and are planning to include Financial Management &
International Through Transport as well. In order to
prepare the students for the Institute Qualifying
Examination, above subjects are covered by
conducting question and answer sessions periodical
examinations and also mock examinations, after the
conclusion of the syllabus in each subject. The
question and answer sessions give students the
opportunity to put questions and voice any problems
they have.
Mock examinations would give the students the
opportunity to practice their examination techniques
and to review their weak areas

Library Facilities
The Local Branch maintains a fully fledged library
with very important and valuable books on all
subjects. These books are available for reference by
the students.
We are also planning to extend this facility by
allowing the students to lend books of their
requirement.
Distance Learning Centre
The local Branch is planning to set up a Distance
learning Centre in Colombo by the end of February
2002.This center would provide Education(
Correspondence ) for Students who are unable to
attend classes and for those executives in the upper
end in the Industry. This facility will be extended
to the shipping community in Maldives particularly
the Sri Lanka community in Male and other Shipping
Centers in the Middle East.
Student Placement with Shipping Agents/ Freight
Forwarders
For the benefit of ICS Registered Students, local
branch is finalizing on the job training for
students to gain working knowledge in the Shipping
and Allied Industry and Prospective Employers will
train the students for a period of 3 to 6 months and
once students completed the examinations, they are
better equipped to commence work. The Prospective
Employers will consider such trained personnel to
hire for their organizations
